Kuala Lumpur, May 25, 2025 — Dignitaries, diplomats, artists, and members of the African diaspora gathered yesterday at the InterContinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur for a colorful and powerful celebration of Africa Day 2025.
Hosted by the African diplomatic missions in Malaysia, the evening event honored Africa’s unity, independence, and growing global partnerships, with a special focus on strengthening Africa–Malaysia relations through trade, culture, and people-to-people ties.
Guests were treated to an inspiring mix of traditional African music, fashion showcases, and culinary delights from across the continent. The program featured speeches from ambassadors representing African nations in Malaysia, who emphasized the importance of mutual understanding, shared prosperity, and pan-African progress.
“Africa Day is not only a celebration of our liberation and heritage, but a platform to build global connections that foster cooperation,” said H.E. Ambassador Josephine Nkrumah, who delivered the keynote remarks on behalf of the African diplomatic community.
The event also showcased African entrepreneurs and students contributing to Malaysia’s economy and cultural fabric. Many noted the growing interest in African innovation, fashion, food, and creative industries within Southeast Asia.
